Anna Leigh Ashford
Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American dancer, actress and performer since the beginning of the 1990s. Her early appearances on Broadway include in the productions Wicked Legally Blonde and Hair. Her role on stage in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Annaleigh is a Tony Award winning actress as well as director, has spent the bulk of her career working alongside famous directors and actors both on stage and screen. Ashford can be seen next as a co-star with Kumail Nanjiani as Robert Siegel's Hulu exclusive Welcome to Chippendales. It debuts on the 22nd November. Ashford's upcoming project includes the Searchlight Pictures horror thriller Dust, starring alongside Sarah Paulson and Ebonmoss-Bachrach. In the form of an Hulu Original, the film will be a part of Disney Digital Television's channels. Ashford is scheduled to return to Broadway in March 2023, with the role of Josh Groban opposite Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. The production will be held at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre. Thomas Kail as director and Jeffrey Seller as producer will serve as the creators of the show. Ashford played Paula Jones, the main role in Ryan Murphy's latest FX show American Crime Story Impeachment. The show is based on the crisis which swept Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky Linda Tripp and other principal characters in the first impeachment trial in the United States in more than a century. She was the star of two seasons on CBS comedy B Positive. Also, she was a part of the hit series created by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre, which featured the legendary actresses Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Not a stranger to Broadway Ashford was awarded the Tony Drama Desk Award and the Outer Critics Circle Awards with her role as Essie. Her additional Broadway performances includes Sunday in the Park with George Wicked Legally Blonde and the originating role of Lauren In Kinky Boots a performance for which she was awarded a second Tony Award nomination. Ashford has been brought up in Denver, now spends time in Los Angeles and New York.
