The actress was nominated for an Oscar first time for her role as the wife of Stephen Hawking on The Theory of Everything. The biopic was based on the scientist Stephen Hawking, and Jones received a lot of praise from audiences and critics due to her superb portrayal of Hawking's former wife. She was then seen in Inferno which was a horror film that starred Tom Hanks. Inferno was a thriller starring Tom Hanks. British Academy of Film and Television Arts Los Angeles awarded Jones with the British Artist of the Year in 2016 for her remarkable talent and contribution to film.
