Sara Ramirez

Sara Ramirez was born in Mexico and is an American-Mexican actress. She also sings. Sara Ramirez was raised by an American mother, and encountered a number of racial slurs that led her to feel unwelcome. It was during her ninth grade that she gained confidence after being highly praised during an audition. She not only gained confidence through the audition, but she also changed career goals. She was a graduate of New York's Julliard School at the age of 22. In 1993, she made her Broadway debut with Paul Simon's The Capeman. Her first film was titled You've got Mail. Her greatest break came in the role of The Lady of The Lake in the original Broadway production of Spamalot. She was awarded the Tony Award and received great praise for the role. The following year she was made the lead character Dr. Callie Torres in ABC's Grey's Anatomy. This led to her gain more fame. She is also a known performer and has released an extended play. In addition, she is an LGBT activist.
